You should not be limited to just a single template for all of your collections. With GemPages, you can have multiple templates running at once and decide which collection uses which template, making it one of the best tools for designing your Collection pages. Learn how to do so with our guide to the Collection Assignment feature.
Assign Collections To A Specific Template
These steps will guide you to assign your collections to a specific template of your choice.
Step 1: Go into your Collection Pages tab on the left of the GemPages Dashboard.
Step 2: Hover over the Collection page you would like to take action to reveal the Assign Collection option. Hit “Assign Collection”.
Next, click on “Add Collection”.
Step 3: Select all the collections you want and hit the blue “Add Collection” button.
Step 4: A new window pops up confirming the number of collections selected.
If you have selected all the correct collections, hit “Yes, Add Now!” to assign them to this template and complete the process.
If you need to add more/remove collections, hit “Cancel” to dismiss and go back to Step 2.
Set A Default Template
If you want to use one template for all of your collections or quickly apply a template to all unassigned collections, you can set a template as default.
Step 1: Go to Collection Pages in the Dashboard.
Step 2: Select the template you want to set as default, click on the three-dot button and select Make Default.
Step 3: A new window appears informing you that all existing collections and future collections will automatically use this template.
To confirm and finish the process, hit the blue “Make Default” button.
To abort, hit “Cancel”.
Unassign Collections From A Template
If you have a new template for your collections, unassigning them from their current template is just as easy. Here are the steps:
Step 1: In the Collection Pages section, select the template you need to remove collections from, an Assigned Collections box will appear right next to it.
Step 2: Select the “X” button next to the collection you want to remove
Step 3: A new window pops up, informing you the selected collection will be removed from the current template and assigned to the default template instead.
Confirm your action by clicking the blue “Unlink Now!” button, or hit “Cancel” to abort.
And there you have it! Feel free to explore the Help Center to master GemPages.
