Content to HTML is the second of three specialized workflows available through GemPages MCP:
- Content Research: Turn product and market evidence into customer insights, buyer personas, and draft content.
- Content to HTML: Turn a finished advertorial, listicle, or comparison article into a ready-to-preview HTML landing page.
- HTML to GemPages: Turn approved HTML into an editable page in GemPages.
Each workflow can be used independently. Content to HTML sits between research and page creation, helping teams transform approved content into a structured visual page before bringing it into GemPages.
The workflow can:
- Read content created by the Content Research workflow or supplied by your team
- Identify whether the article is an advertorial, listicle, or comparison
- Match the content with a suitable structure from the GemPages HTML template library
- Apply saved brand colors and typography
- Convert one article or a complete batch
- Avoid reusing the same template within a batch
- Mark missing facts with bracketed placeholders instead of inventing information
- Create a complete landing-page.html file for review
To start, open Claude Code, Claude Cowork, or another compatible AI environment and enter a prompt such as:
“Use GemCommerce MCP. Turn content/blog-advertorial-1.md into a landing page.”
The output of this workflow is an HTML file. It does not create or publish a page in GemPages. Once the HTML has been reviewed and approved, you can move it into the HTML to GemPages workflow.
How The Content to HTML Workflow Works
The Content to HTML workflow does more than insert an article into a generic page layout. It first understands the content, then matches that content with an appropriate structure from the GemPages HTML template library.
1. GemPages MCP reads your finished article
You can provide the content in several ways:
- Point the AI to an article file
- Paste the full article into the conversation
- Use an article created by the Content Research workflow
- Provide a folder containing multiple finished articles
The content does not have to come from another GemPages MCP workflow. You can use any completed article as long as the AI can access it.
2. GemPages MCP identifies the content type
The workflow currently works with three content types:
- Advertorial
- Listicle
- Comparison
The AI first attempts to identify the format automatically. If the content type is clear, it proceeds without asking you to confirm.
If the article could fit more than one format, or does not clearly match any of the three, the AI asks you to select the closest type or describe the structure you want.
This classification helps the AI choose a template that supports the article’s existing message and flow.
3. GemPages MCP selects a suitable HTML template
After identifying the content type, the AI evaluates relevant options in the GemPages HTML template library and chooses the structure that best fits the article.
The goal is not simply to find a template that can hold the content. The selected template should allow the article’s key messages and narrative order to remain clear when presented as a landing page.
Because the workflow uses a researched template library rather than generating every layout freeform, the output can remain visually varied without relying on an untested page structure.
4. GemPages MCP applies your brand style
The first time you create a page for a store, the AI may ask for:
- Primary brand color
- Secondary or accent colors
- Heading font
- Body font
- Preferred typography
You can provide exact information such as color codes and font names. You can also upload an image or screenshot and ask the AI to analyze its visual style.
The confirmed information is saved locally in:
- brand-style.md: a reference file containing your brand colors and typography
The AI can reuse this file for later pages created for the same store, so you do not need to answer the same questions every time.
If you skip this step, the AI uses the selected template’s default styling instead of inventing brand colors.
5. GemPages MCP transforms the article into HTML
The AI maps the article into the selected template and creates the final landing page.
For each article, you receive:
- landing-page.html: the completed HTML landing page and the main deliverable of the workflow
For a batch, each article receives its own HTML page. The articles are processed sequentially, and the same template is not reused within the batch.
The shared brand-style.md file can be reused across the batch when all pages belong to the same store.
6. Missing information is marked with placeholders
The AI does not invent facts that are missing from your source content.
This includes information such as:
- Testimonials
- Certifications
- Warranty terms
- Performance claims
- Discounts
- Statistics
- Specific product results
If required information is unavailable, the AI leaves a clear bracketed placeholder, such as:
[Add verified customer testimonial]
or:
[Insert warranty period]
After completing the page, the AI flags these placeholders so you know exactly what still needs to be added or verified before the page moves to the next workflow.
How to Start a Content to HTML Workflow Step by Step
Step 1: Hand over your article or batch
Provide one completed article or a set of articles.
For a single article, you can point the AI to the relevant file:
Use GemCommerce MCP to turn my content at content/blog-advertorial-1.md into a landing page HTML.
You can also paste the complete article directly into the conversation.
For a batch, provide the folder containing all the articles you want to convert:
Use GemCommerce MCP to convert every article in content/ into landing page HTML files.
Each article should be complete enough to turn into a page. Rough notes or unfinished outlines may not provide enough information for the workflow to produce a useful result.
Step 2: Confirm the content type if asked
The AI automatically checks whether the article is an advertorial, listicle, or comparison.
If it is confident, it continues without interrupting you.
If it is unsure, it may ask you to:
- Confirm the detected content type
- Select the closest supported type
- Explain the format you want
You can answer briefly:
- Treat this as an advertorial.
- Use a listicle structure.
- This should be a comparison landing page.
You can also add a specific instruction if needed:
Use the closest comparison structure, but keep the educational introduction before the product comparison.
Step 3: Answer the brand-style questions if asked
If the AI cannot find an existing brand-style file for the store, it may ask for your colors and typography.
You can provide the information manually. For example:
- Primary color
- Secondary color
- Heading font
- Body font
Alternatively, upload a clear image of your store or brand and ask:
Analyze this image and use its colors and typography as the brand style for the landing page.
This information is saved in brand-style.md and can be reused for later pages created for the same store.
Step 4: Let the workflow run
The AI will:
- Read the article.
- Identify its content type.
- Find a suitable template.
- Apply the saved or provided brand style.
- Map the content into the template.
- Create landing-page.html.
- Flag any missing facts with bracketed placeholders.
This process normally takes around 10 to 20 minutes per HTML page.
The workflow prioritizes the fit between the article and the landing page structure. It does not simply select the first template that fits the word count.
For a batch, the total processing time increases with the number of articles because each one is completed separately.
Step 5: Review the completed page
When landing-page.html is ready, open it in a browser and review the result.
Check:
- Whether the page structure fits the article
- Whether the original message remains clear
- Whether any important content is missing
- Whether the colors and typography match your brand
- Whether the calls to action are appropriate
- Whether any bracketed placeholders remain
You can ask the AI to revise the HTML through the conversation. For example:
- Move the social-proof section above the product benefits.
- Shorten the hero copy and make the primary CTA more prominent.
- Keep the current template, but use a darker version of the primary color for the buttons.
- Replace the current FAQ content with the FAQs from my source article.
Step 6: Choose what happens next
After reviewing the page, you can ask the AI to:
- Revise the current HTML
- Continue to the next article in a batch
- Complete the remaining batch without stopping
- Send the approved HTML to the HTML to GemPages workflow
If you want to continue to GemPages, say:
The HTML looks good. Use the HTML to GemPages workflow to turn it into an editable GemPages page.
The next workflow will use the completed HTML to create a page in GemPages and return a GemPages Editor link. You can then review, edit, and publish the page when you are ready.
Prompt Examples
Here are three ways to start the Content to HTML workflow, depending on where your content comes from and how many articles you want to convert.
1. Convert One Article From the Content Research Workflow
“Use GemCommerce MCP. Turn content/blog-advertorial-1.md into a landing page.”
This is the simplest single-article workflow. GemPages MCP reads the selected file, identifies whether the content is an advertorial, listicle, or comparison article, and matches it with a suitable template.
If this is the first page created for the store, you may also be asked to provide your brand colors and typography.
2. Convert an Article You Wrote Yourself
“Use GemCommerce MCP. Here’s an article I wrote myself: [paste the complete article]. Turn it into a landing page for my store.”
The source article does not need to come from the Content Research workflow. You can provide any finished article by pasting it directly into the conversation.
GemPages MCP will attempt to classify the article as an advertorial, listicle, or comparison. If the format is unclear, you may be asked to confirm the closest content type.
3. Convert a Full Batch Without Stopping
“Use GemCommerce MCP. Convert every article in content/ into landing pages. Go through the whole batch without stopping to ask me after each one, and flag anything with placeholders at the end.”
Use this prompt when you want GemPages MCP to process an entire folder of finished articles without waiting for approval after every page.
The articles are processed one at a time. GemPages MCP tracks the templates already used within the batch so that the resulting pages do not all share the same layout.
If any required information is missing, the workflow adds a bracketed placeholder instead of inventing the information. After the batch is complete, it identifies the placeholders that need to be reviewed and completed.
Tips for Running the Workflow Without Interruptions
Tip 1: Allow GemCommerce MCP tool calls
By default, MCP clients such as Claude may ask for permission before every MCP tool call. Since this workflow involves multiple tool calls, repeated prompts can interrupt the process.
In Claude Code inside Claude Desktop:
- Click Customize in the left sidebar.
- Go to Connectors.
- Select GemCommerce MCP.
- Enable permission for all GemCommerce MCP tool calls.
Only enable this option when you recognize and trust the connected MCP server.
Tip 2: Use Auto Mode for Safe Bash Commands
The Content to HTML workflow also uses bash commands to read, create, and manage local files. If Claude asks you to approve every command, the workflow may pause frequently.
In Claude Code inside the Claude Desktop app, set the conversation to Auto mode. Claude can then run commands it considers safe without requesting approval each time.
Things to Know Before Running the Workflow
1. Always mention GemCommerce MCP in your prompt
GemPages MCP is the product and workflow system. In Claude, GemCommerce MCP is the connector the AI needs to use to access those workflows.
Explicitly saying “Use GemCommerce MCP” helps the AI connect to the correct tools instead of attempting to generate the HTML through another method.
2. Use an AI tool with local file access
This workflow reads and writes a series of local files while processing each article.
Use:
- Claude Code
- Claude Cowork in Claude Desktop
- Another compatible AI tool with local file access
A chat-only AI environment without local file access cannot run the complete workflow.
3. Start with finished content
The workflow is designed to convert a completed article into HTML. It is not intended to turn a rough idea or outline into a full article.
If your content is still incomplete, finish it first or use the Content Research workflow before starting Content to HTML.
4. Use a model that can handle a large context
Choose a model that can comfortably handle approximately 200k tokens of context, such as Opus with Medium or High effort.
This is especially important for batches, where the AI may need to keep track of multiple articles, template information, brand styling, content mappings, generated files, and previous template usage.
5. Batch articles are processed sequentially
Articles in a batch are always processed one at a time, never in parallel.
This allows the workflow to track which templates have already been used and prevents the same template from being applied twice within the batch.
6. One brand-style file can be reused for the same store
brand-style.md is normally created only the first time you build a page for a store.
It can then be reused for later pages from the same store, including pages within a batch. If you work with multiple stores, make sure the AI uses the correct brand-style file for each one.
7. The AI does not fabricate missing facts
If a testimonial, certification, warranty term, statistic, or other factual detail is missing, the AI uses a bracketed placeholder instead of inventing it.
Always resolve these placeholders before moving the page toward publication.
8. Skipping the brand questions affects visual consistency
If you do not provide brand colors and typography, the AI uses the template’s default styling.
The page can still be generated, but it may require additional visual adjustments to match your store.
9. Allow 10 to 20 minutes per page
The workflow spends time matching each article with an appropriate landing page structure. For a batch, the articles are processed sequentially, so the total time increases with the number of pages.
10. The workflow does not create or publish a GemPages page
The final output of Content to HTML is landing-page.html.
You can preview and revise this file, but it has not yet been turned into a GemPages page and is not automatically published to your store.

Once you have reviewed landing-page.html, resolved any placeholders, and approved the page content and design, you can move to the third GemPages MCP workflow: HTML to GemPages.
The HTML to GemPages workflow takes the finished HTML file, divides it into semantic sections, builds and validates those sections, and creates the page inside GemPages.
When the process is complete, GemPages MCP returns a link to the GemPages Editor. Your team can then open the page, make final changes, and publish it manually when ready.
